The well-known Ray-Ban Aviator model was born early 1920’s upon request of Lieutenant John MacCready.
He got permanent damage to his eyes after a balloon flying adventure; therefore, he contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create a type of sunglasses for aviators that would not only provide superb protection, but also look elegant.
The brand is currently held by Luxottica, an Italian company and world’s leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of prescription frames and sunglasses.
